The Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra are the latest models in Samsung's flagship lineup of phones -- though it did just announce its new folding Z-series phones, the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. The S22 and its kin are successors to both the previous-gen S21 phones, as well as Samsung's now-discontinued Note series, which has been replaced by the new S22 Ultra. This generation of Samsung phones scored a top spot on our list of the best phones for 2022, and right now, you can pick one up at a bargain. We've rounded up some of the best S22 deals and promotions currently available -- as well as some other details about Samsung's latest phones -- below.

The Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra all feature several major camera improvements, including larger pixel sensors and Adaptive Pixel technology for improved nighttime photography and videos. There's an improved portrait mode, as well as a new auto framing feature that can detect and track up to 10 people in order to capture everyone in a photo clearly.

However, it's the Galaxy S22 Ultra that made the biggest splash. Samsung's top-of-the-line phone introduces the S Pen to the S series for the first time, paying homage to the now-canceled Note.

What colors does the Galaxy S22 come in?

Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are available in phantom black, phantom white, green and pink gold. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a slightly different lineup: phantom black, phantom white, green and burgundy.

How much does the Galaxy S22 cost?

The three models of the Galaxy S22 are available in various storage configurations. US pricing for each model starts at:

• Samsung Galaxy S22: $800
• Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus: $1,000
• Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: $1,200

Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are available in 128GB and 256GB storage options with 8GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra will also add in options for 512GB and 1TB with up to 12GB of RAM.

You might have missed the preorder offers, but most carriers and retailers are offering some stellar deals on these Galaxy S phones, especially if you've got an older device you're looking to trade in. We've rounded up the best Galaxy S22 deals that you can shop for right now.

We will continue to update this page as new offers become available, so keep checking back if your carrier or preferred retailer is not listed below.

Samsung's site is the obvious place to buy the newest Galaxy S22 phones, because it offers all the device configurations and has multiple payment options. Samsung offers carrier and unlocked models so you can choose between buying the phone outright, through carrier payments or financing it through Samsung, depending on your preference.

As of right now, Samsung isn't offering any straightforward discounts, but you can save big with an eligible trade-in. Trading in your older phone, tablet or smart watch, including cracked or damaged devices, will save you up to $700 on the S22 and S22 Plus, or up to $900 on the S22 Ultra.

All models are currently available, though the Samsung exclusive color variants are out of stock at the moment. 

If you don't want the headache of navigating carriers, plans and installment payments, you'll want an unlocked phone that you can purchase outright. You can save $100 on the base model S22, $200 on the S22 Plus or up to $160 on the S22 Ultra. Just not that discounts jump around quite a bit between different colors and configurations, so be sure to double-check before purchasing. All three models are currently in stock, though you will find a few select configurations that are currently unavailable. 

This time around, AT&T is getting far more aggressive with its trade-in offers on the Galaxy S22 devices. The carrier is matching Verizon's offer from last year and is accepting select phones in any condition as a trade-in. If you have any Galaxy Note, S or Z Series phone from any year, you can get $800 off the Galaxy S22 devices, even if your trade-in is broken or doesn't turn on. Trading in other phones or devices can still save you hundreds, but their condition will factor into the estimated value. 

With this promotion, you can get the base Galaxy S22 for free via qualifying installment plan credits. The credits take place over a 36-month period, and if you cancel service before the 36 months is over you'll have to pay the remaining balance. This means that you could technically pay as little as $0 for the Galaxy S22, under $6 per month for the Galaxy S22 Plus and about $11 per month for the S22 Ultra, but be aware that credits begin 90 days after purchase and require that you pay all taxes and associated fees on the retail price up front. 

All three Galaxy S22 models are available now and ship for free, with most colors and configurations ready to ship right away.

If you're a current Verizon subscriber or someone looking to make the switch to Verizon, there are some great discounts you can take advantage of. Both new customers adding a line, and current Verizon subscribers upgrading their current line can save up to $800 on any S22 model with an eligible trade-in and activation on a qualifying 5G unlimited plan. Those adding a new line will also get a $200 Verizon gift card. You can also save $800 on a second S22 phone when adding another new line of service, and like the trade-in deal, new customers will also get a $200 Verizon gift card. 

You can even trade in broken or damaged phones, as long as the battery is intact, which is something that the carrier started doing last year. That means that you can get the S22 for free, and the S22 Ultra for as low as $11 per month. The discount will be applied via monthly bill credits, so you can't get this offer when you purchase the phone outright. It's also worth noting that Verizon is now using 36-month terms instead of 24-month terms, so you'll want to make sure that works for you before placing your order.

And if you're looking to buy a new smartwatch, Verizon is also offering up to $150 off a new Galaxy Watch 5 or Watch 5 Pro with the purchase of any Android smartphone and activation on any data plan. 

All three models are currently available with free two-day shipping.

Best Buy now offers support for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile upgrades and new lines both in-store and online, which means you can take advantage of some of the great carrier offers available at the moment. If you're looking to trade in a device, you can save up to $1,000 through Verizon or AT&T, or $690 through T-Mobile.

There is also a somewhat misleading deal available on unlocked models of the S22 Plus and Ultra. Supposedly, you'll have to choose same-day activation through one of the qualifying carriers to get the $100 discount, which essentially defeats the purpose of an unlocked phone. However, you can get the same deal when you choose the "activate later" pricing option. Best Buy also has its own trade-in program where you can save up to $900 by trading in select Samsung, Apple, or Google phones. 

T-Mobile usually goes all out for new phone releases with some pretty sweet deals for new customers and current ones alike. This time around, T-Mobile has two deals available: one for those with Magenta Max and one for those without.

Customers who are on Magenta Max plan are able to get any S22 model for free by adding a new line of service on your existing Magenta Max Plan. Those not on a Magenta Max Plan can save up to $400 by adding a new line of service on any qualifying plan. Customers on any qualifying rate plan can also save up to $400 when trading in an eligible device. 

T-Mobile currently has all three models available, though select colors and configurations are currently backordered or out of stock.

Boost Mobile is offering new and existing customers an excellent deal on Galaxy S22 devices. For a limited time, the carrier is offering a nice discount that brings the base price of the 128GB Galaxy S22 down to only $500, $300 off the usual price. You can also save $400 on the S22 Plus and Ultra, dropping the price down to just $600 and $800 respectively. 

Since Boost Mobile is a prepaid carrier, you will need to buy the phone outright, but at this pricing it's well worth it. All three phones are currently in stock, though you can only get the 128GB models with a limited selection of colors.

It's been just five years since Xiaomi was founded, and the rapidly growing company is celebrating the occasion in China with a fan festival to thank the company's loyal customers. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun took the opportunity to announce five new products, including the new Mi Smart Scale.

Adding to its growing ecosystem of phones and accessories, the Mi Smart Scale connects via Bluetooth with your smartphone and is another source of data for the company's Mi Fit app, which is available on both iOS and Android. It has a precision of 50g (1.8 oz) and can track weights from 5 to 150kg (11 to 330 lb). With a glass platform and LED display, it will retail for 99 yuan, which converts to around $15, £10 or AU$20.

Like the Yi Action Cam , the scale is developed by Huami, which also made the company's wearable fitness band, the Mi Band .

Other products include a buffed up Mi TV 2, which sports a 55-inch 4K display, smart features and comes with an eight-speaker sound bar. The price? Just 4,999 yuan ($805, £545 or AU$1,060).

Two phones -- a pink version of the company's flagship Mi Note , and a version of the Redmi 2 made for carrier China Mobile were also announced. Lastly, the company showed off the Mi Power Strip -- a portable charger with three power sockets and three USB ports.

These products are currently only for sale in China, but given that the company will be opening its online Mi Store for accessories in the US and Europe sometime soon, there's a good chance you may be able to get your hands on the Mi Smart Scale.

Verizon to Offer Motorola's Edge Plus for $850

Motorola's Edge Plus  phone will be available on Verizon as of March 24, the carrier said on Monday. Motorola's new high-end device comes with a 6.7-inch screen and ultrawide cameras and seeks to compete against premium phones like Apple's iPhone 13 Pro and Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra. 

Though Motorola originally said the Edge Plus would have a starting price of $1,000, Verizon said the premium phone will be available at Verizon stores and online for $850. Last month, Motorola said the Edge Plus would also be available unlocked through Motorola's website as well as retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. Other carriers that'll offer the phone include Boost Mobile and Republic Wireless, Motorola said.

The 2022 version of the Edge Plus has an OLED screen that can boost its refresh rate up to 144Hz. It also features a 60-megapixel front camera. There are two 50-megapixel cameras on the back, along with a 2-megapixel depth camera designed for taking better portrait photos. The device runs on Qualcomm's newest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Motorola is also leaning on the Edge Plus' 50-megapixel ultrawide camera to grab attention. Popular phones like the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Galaxy S22 Ultra each have 12-megapixel ultrawide cameras, potentially giving Motorola the chance to stand out.

Samsung is reportedly changing up its smartwatch system with the launch of the upcoming Galaxy Watch 4, updating from using Tizen to instead use Android Wear OS with One UI 3.x on top. Samsung could launch three new versions of the Galaxy Watch, including a classic version and an Active model, SamMobile reported Monday, under the codenames Wish, Fresh and Lucky.

Samsung will also include new SmartThings features in the three smartwatches, the report said, including the Apple Watch-like walkie talkie feature.

The report didn't say when Samsung would be launching the Galaxy Watch 4. Samsung just held its third Unpacked event of the year in April.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 3 in August 2020, featuring a new electrocardiogram feature and blood oxygen level measurement.

Chevy Blazer EV Police Car Coming in 2024

Alongside the debut of the new Blazer EV SUV on Monday, Chevrolet showed a police-prepped variant, which is expected to arrive in early 2024. We only have this single photo to go on right now, but Chevy will likely release more information as the Blazer EV nears production.

Chevy says the Police Pursuit Vehicle will be based on the high-performance Blazer SS EV and will have "the largest Ultium battery in the lineup." Expect power output matching the SS, so a healthy 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque, and at least 290 miles of estimated range.

The Blazer EV PPV will have the SS' front Brembo brakes for the best stopping performance, and Chevy says this version has a police-specific interior designed to accommodate cops and their gear. It's unclear if the Blazer EV PPV will have all the same driver-assistance technologies as the civilian variant.

In addition to the PPV, Chevy says the Blazer EV's various trims "offer different range and content suited for additional fleet and commercial customers." That means we could see the Blazer EV pressed into service as a rental car, security patrol or even a delivery vehicle.

The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV will go on sale in summer 2023, priced around $47,595. The SS is expected to start around $66,000, though pricing for the PPV is still TBD.

Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition gaming laptop review: An AMD one-two punch

The "Advantage" in this special model of the Asus ROG Strix G15 refers to AMD's Advantage Design Framework, a new initiative in the spirit of Intel Evo and Nvidia Studio; in AMD's words, "the result of a multiyear collaboration between AMD and its global PC partners to deliver the next generation of premium, high-performance gaming laptops." The ROG Strix Advantage Edition is one of the inaugural systems in the program -- the only one thus far to include the new Radeon RX 6800M GPU -- and while it's a great gaming laptop and succeeds at hitting "high performance," it feels a little less premium than competitors and even its own sibling, the ROG Strix Scar 15. 

The G15 AE is shipping this month, but Asus hasn't yet settled on a price; it will fall somewhere in the $1,650-$1,700 range. Even at the high end of that range, though, the G15's worth it -- it delivers excellent performance and features for the money.

The Advantage Design Framework's requirements include an AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPU (Ryzen 9 5900HX, check), Radeon RX 6000M series GPU (6800M, check), battery life greater than 10 hours (10.5 hours, check), over 100 frames per second in "today's most visually demanding titles" (check-ish), a display with at least 300 nits brightness and refresh rate of at least 144Hz (bright screen with a 300Hz refresh rate, check) and cool operation under heavy loads (check), "all packed into sleek laptop designs." Um, I think "sleek" here must be in the eye of the beholder.

There only seems to be a single configuration of the G15, at least for the moment, which means you can't get the slicker 165Hz 1440p display or optomechanical keyboard used by its sibling system, the Strix Scar 15. Nor can you get it with 32GB RAM. Then again, that Scar configuration costs about twice as much.

That price difference could be why the Strix G15 feels so much less premium than the similar Scar. This partly defeats the Advantage Design Framework's implicit intent to change the perception of AMD from being the choice for budget laptops to being the power behind AAA gaming laptops.  

Speed leader

It's not the fastest in its class, but the 6800M punches above its weight, generally falling somewhere between Nvidia's RTX 3070 and 3080 for gaming and outpacing the RTX 3080 for many creative applications, similarly to what we've seen with the desktop GPU equivalents. AMD attributes its performance to a combination of optimized cooling, liquid-metal thermal paste on both the CPU and the GPU and its SmartShift technology, which diverts power to the GPU for a boost when the CPU isn't very active. 

Those are in addition to the general enhancements of the company's Zen 3 and RDNA 2 architectures, including its Infinity Cache on the GPU die and Smart Access Memory, which allows the CPU to directly access the GPU memory; both improve latency.

It doesn't get too loud, either. Rather than the whine of a jet engine, in its fastest Turbo mode it sounds more like water boiling. Odd, but kind of soothing.

One big annoyance is that the Radeon RX 6800M lacks an Nvidia Advanced Optimus-like capability to force the system to use the discrete GPU. The only way you can do it is by attaching an external display via USB-C, which isn't a practical solution for many people. Even the HDMI connection isn't on the GPU bus. 

Yes, AMD's automation probably delivers optimal results 99% of the time, but for the 1% when, say, you can't figure out why Photoshop doesn't see the GPU or you encounter other problems that need troubleshooting, the option is essential. Like when Far Cry 5 delivered repeated runs at about 19fps for me because it insisted on using the integrated GPU; attaching an external display "snapped" it to the discrete GPU, which then stuck. Frame rates generally improved when I used an external display as well, which makes sense, since it's on the faster bus.

AMD targets the 6800M at 1440p/120fps gaming, so it's odd that the Strix G15 pairs it with a 1080p display. Attached to an external display and running in Turbo mode, you'll probably get those frame rates in many games. (We test using the laptop display and the numbers we report are for the default, middle-of-the-road Performance mode.) 

Design advantage?

The Strix models are generally somewhat heavy and bulky, but the G15 Advantage goes the extra mile with an even larger power adapter: The AMD CPU/GPU combination requires a 280-watt supply compared with, say, the 240 watts needed by the AMD CPU/Nvidia GPU combo in the Scar.

I wish there were at least one more USB-C connector. The 512GB solid-state drive is on the small side and I would have liked to connect both a portable USB-C drive and a USB-C monitor simultaneously. Thunderbolt would have been even nicer, but this is AMD.

In most other respects, the G15 seems well designed. The keyboard may not be as slick as the Scar's optomechanical version, but in many ways I like it better. It doesn't have the mechanical clickiness I like, but it has good travel that can take a pounding. The matte, grippy, slightly curved keycaps feel more precise and less slippery. On the other hand, the keycaps seem potentially flimsy and prone to collecting crumbs.

The backlight is only four zones, not per-key RGB, and it doesn't shine quite brightly enough through small characters like quotation marks, the apostrophe and the period. But I'm a big fan of the lighting strip around the base, and the translucent WASD keys are a nice touch as well.

It also has a big touchpad, and while the keyboard lacks an embedded number pad, I still like it better than the virtual number pad on the Scar, which pops into service too easily.

But how someone can ship a laptop in 2021 without a webcam boggles the mind. To take part in Zoom chats and the like, you'll need to hook up an external cam. 

The Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition isn't a perfect gaming laptop, and it probably won't be the fastest one we see this year, but it's damn good and damn fast, especially for the money.

Chromebooks can be kid-friendly once again. Google is adding Chrome OS support for Family Link, the company's parental control service for Android devices. The move, first reported by Chrome Unboxed, comes months after Google did away with supervised users in January, promising to add improved parental controls in the future.

Now that the company has made good on its promise, let's go over how you can turn them on.

To get started, you'll need a Chromebook running Chrome OS 65 and up, and a Family Link account for each child under 13 who you would like to use the computer. If your child doesn't already have a Family Link account, download and install the Family Link app on iOS or Android, then follow the prompts to create an account.

You can use Family Link to make your Chromebook a kid-friendly place.

With your child's account info in hand, add a new user to the Chromebook by selecting Add Person on the Chromebook's lock screen. Use your child's Family Link credentials to sign into the Chromebook. You will be asked to sign in to the parental account linked to Family Link for approval. A prompt similar to what's seen above will explain what your child will have access to, and perhaps more importantly, what will be blocked. 

With the account added, your child can use the Chromebook, with some restrictions. Access to the Chrome Web Store and Play Store is blocked, as well as incognito mode in Chrome. Websites with sexual or violent content are also locked away.

Unfortunately, right now the Family Link integration doesn't support time limits, remote device losing or location support, all features currently available on Android.

Google details exactly what a parent or child can and can't do on a Chromebook with the new Family Link feature on its support page.

Hopefully, more controls aren't too far off, it would be nice to set screen time limits on Chromebooks.

Star Wars Resistance episode 6: First Order trouble follows The Children from Tehar

The CGI animated series Star Wars Resistance gives us a sense of what the First Order has been up to in the sixth episode.

We're introduced to Kel (Anthony Del Rio) and Eila (Nikki SooHoo), a pair of young siblings who've come to the Colossus refuelling platform to escape the militaristic regime, and their plight starts to open Kazuda Xiono's (AKA Kaz, played by Christopher Sean) eyes to the threat he faces.

Kaz is finding balance

He manages to advance his spying mission by gathering intel on the First Order and fulfil his duties as a mechanic by replacing the compensator (which, admittedly, he did break) for fellow mechanic Tam Ryvora (Suzie McGrath).

His quick thinking saves Kel and Eila from the First Order goons and he hears the name Kylo Ren for the first time. He reports that to Resistance pilot Ello Asty (Matthew Wood) -- who stands in for Poe Dameron as his contact within the rebel group.

If Ello's name seems weird, it's because he's a reference to the album Hello Nasty by the Beastie Boys -- The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams likes to include nods to the band in his work. Ello is shot down over Starkiller Base in that movie's final battle.

Sinister dark shuttles are never a good thing in Star Wars.

The First Order is staying under the radar

We find out that Kylo Ren hasn't risen to infamy yet, since Kaz and Neeku Vozo (Josh Brener) aren't familiar with the name when they learn that he led the "small army" that razed the children's homeworld, Tehar, and killed their parents. Tehar apparently lies in the galaxy's Unknown Regions, where the First Order amassed its forces after the fall of the Empire.

It seems that the Resistance didn't know Kylo was linked to the First Order so this gives us a sense that no one had a clue what he did after he and the Knights of Ren killed Luke Skywalker's Jedi students (seen in flashbacks in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi).

Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) wants the children brought back or killed -- suggesting that she wants to recruit them as Stormtroopers and cover up the First Order's crimes. She's tasked Commander Pyre (Liam McIntyre) with this mission to hunt the children down. He's quite intimidating, and his gold armor looks spectacular in the show's cel-shaded CGI animation style.

Kaz finds Neeku to be a valuable ally.

Neeku is incredibly kind

"Money should be used on the necessities, for anyone who needs it."

Neeku, Kaz's fellow mechanic, pays for his friend's water and later springs for the herbal medicine Eila needs without even being asked.

This decency is most likely the reason for his bond with the Chelludi -- shell-folk who act as the engineers, maintenance workers and janitors of the Colossus. Their unobtrusive nature and essential role makes them ideal spies, but only someone like Neeku would have the patience for their slow speech pattern.

Their ability to slow down their life systems saves the day by convincing the First Order that the children are dead (even if it was Kaz's idea).

The Colossus has an underbelly, but it's not dark

The Chelidae live on the platform's engineering level, which is a little dark and grimy, but they're quite gentle and friendly.  

Watch BB-8 stopping to check each step as he follows Kaz and Neeku down, just as he did when he followed Rey into the basement of Maz's castle in The Force Awakens. Later, he loses control when he rushes down and fails to check.

Captain Doza isn't playing his hand yet

The Colossus boss (Jason Hightower) knows Kaz had a run-in with the First Order, but doesn't reveal that when they meet. It seems like he's determined to play both sides, since he doesn't mention Kaz to Phasma when he contacts her about the children being on the Colossus.

But who will he side with when the chips are down? It's highly likely that the First Order will come to take the platform by force in the end, so his true allegiance will most likely reveal itself then.

He's also intrigued by the children's symbol (which Kaz leaves with him after their meeting) -- it's most likely a mark of their tribe. If he finds out that the First Order killed this group, he'll probably side with the Resistance.
